Q: Do I need to arrive early for my first appointment at Southwest Virginia Eye Center?

A: Yes, please plan on arriving 10-15 minutes early for your first appointment, as there will be new-patient paperwork you’ll need to complete.

Q: Do I need to bring my insurance card to every appointment?

A: Yes, please bring a copy of your current insurance card and any pertinent medical information, including a list of your medications, to each and every appointment.

Q: Should I plan on having a driver?

A: If you will be dilated as part of your exam, then we recommend having someone drive you to and from your appointment.

Q: How long will I be there?

A: It varies by appointment type, doctor and day, but in general plan on allowing an hour and a half for your appointment.

Q: If I have been dilated, how long will the effects last?

A: Generally, the effects of dilation last 4-6 hours.
