Two of the most commonly used eye lasers are the Argon and the YAG. At Southwest Virginia Eye Center we have both of these in our office for your convenience. The Argon laser is used for the treatment of diabetic eye disease as well as glaucoma. The YAG laser is used for elimination of the cloudy membrane that sometimes develops after cataract surgery or for certain types of glaucoma (angle closure). A new YAG laser available in our office is able to help treat some vitreous floaters. Floaters can be very annoying and even visually disabling. This new laser and new technique can help dissolve and break up floaters. Laser treatments typically take very little time and also cause very little, if any discomfort.
